Laundry

I hate laundry. I hate that my laundry room is in the snake filled den of dismay.

I don't mind the sorting, the washing, the drying. The folding is pushing it though. Ironing is not too bad. It's what comes next that I hate.

I ask one simple task of my kids. The older ones. Put away your washed, dried, ironed, folded and neatly placed in a basket for your convenience clothes. They grumpily take the clothes in their rooms and 20 minutes emerge looking at you like they just had to do an impossible task.

All is good right?!

Nope, cause the next time I go into their rooms I find their laundry crammed in drawers. Sometimes not even dresser drawers. Desk drawers work too. Clothes stashed on bookshelves. Thrown on the bottom of their closets. Under the mattress?! What is up with that?

"Iuhno"... or the look like "well you idiot, where would YOU put your clothes". Like normal kids all stash their clothes in these places. My son tried the "Kyle doesn't have to put away his clothes" on me. Yeah, well Kyle's mom probably likes him a whole lot more than I do you at this moment.

The 2 year old doesn't appreciate the laundry either. I put her clothes away... about 5 times a day. Why? Cause she pulls everything out of her drawers, cries that nothing fits and wants to put on the skirt she has worn for the last 2 weeks! Hello, it's a Halloween costume! She is waaay too young to complain to have nothing to wear.

I remember that my mom used to have one of those old ringer washers. When we moved into our new house, it came with an updated washer and dryer. She still used the ringer one though. She didn't want to get the new ones dirty. WHAT?! Dirty those puppies up for chrissakes!

I thought about hanging the kids laundry out on a line til they "got" it. Let the whole neighborhood see their skivvies flapping in the breeze.

And my husband is on the list of people who don't appreciate the laundry. Why is it that the pants and shirts that are a royal pain to iron are always the first to get dirty? Cargo pants are such a pain. It always seems like as soon as I get it all caught up he will notice the laundry done, remember the 3 loads in his truck from the weekend and bring it in. Never a full load either. So the loverly empty sorter is now half filled again. Woohoo! I got 3 more loads of laundry to look forward to doing sometime this week!

I've read some suggestions to make your laundry room pretty so you will look forward to doing laundry. What kind of advice is that? No amount of pretty will make me look forward to doing laundry!

Maybe a hunky guy to help do laundry?

Yeah, laundry would be the LAST thing on my mind! A girl can dream though right?!

Oh well, I guess it is back to the heap for me. If I am gone for a few days you know the laundry troll has gotten me.

I actually do not mind laundry but keep in mind ~ there are no children in this house either! I hate dishes so we have an agreement ~ whoever cooks, the other cleans up. Since I married "Chef Boy R Dee" who can only open cans, he does the dishes most of the time while I do the cooking.
