The Fantabulous Basement Challenge and Other Yvonney Stuff!

Yes, you heard right ladies! A basement challenge!

Do you have a messy basement that you have been meaning to get too?

Is your basement so disorganized that you stand on the stairs and just pitch stuff to the area it should be?

Are there creepy things living in your basement that keep you from getting it organized?

Is it just me and my basement?

The basement challenge is on! Yvonne @ Stone Gable says she is in. I just can't imagine any area in her house being disorganized and cluttered. She says it is though. This will be an ongoing challenge. My basement didn't get in this shape overnight and it won't be undone overnight either! 'Nuff said Mr Shrinking Man!

So here's the details....

It starts Monday, July 12th. Let's start the week out right. You've got the whole weekend to plan on what you are going to do with your additional space! There is no deadline. It's done when it is done. I'm going to add a list on my sidebar to tally my progress. Also, I won't be posting before pics yet of my basement. It would be the same as posting pics of me in a bikini. I surely don't want to scare you away from visiting any more! Anyone who would like to join in, let me know in comments. Maybe we should even have a get together? Maybe a giveaway? That's a way to get rid of useless crap in my basement!

There is another reason why we can't start until Monday....

It's Yvonne's Birthday!

Happy Birthday Sweetie! I hope you have a Birthday as wonderful as you are!

She is also having a giveaway for her 200th post celebration! Lookie at what I am going.... errr..... I mean what you could win....

When she celebrates she does it up right! It is a Cuisinart Ice Cream, Frozen Yogurt, Sorbet crazy making machine! If you would like to oooh and aaah over my new ice cream machine click here. Feel free to make a copy of the iced tea recipe. It looks fabulous!

Yvonne has the knack to make any occasion wonderful. Her blog is just filled with great ideas, tablescapes, projects and recipes!

Maybe she will make a tablescape and menu for cleaning a basement?

I don't have a basement so I can't join in this one (although if I did have one, I know I'd NEED to join in... so maybe that's a good thing!)
Lovin' the pig in your birthday card-have fun!

I've already entered! Don't you just love Yvonne's blog? I don't have a basement, however, I do have a large storage area that needs reorganizing. Carla

Maggie!
First of all~ Thank you for the very sweet comments and birthday wishes! You are just the best!!!!!!
Second, YOur on! Let's get our basements clean! If you would see mine you would pass out! I could enter it in one of those embarrassing clutter shows. I hate to admit this but I have NEVER thrown away one school paper my children have done! Yes, they are all put in folders by month and in boxes by years but still! Can you imagine how many boxes of klennex I'll need to go through them? I'm giving myself a month of going through each child's box, a month of crying and mourning that they are not little, a month of crying and being thankful for them, and then I might be able to part with their papers. Obviously, I'm tackling this last. Hopefully by then the momentum will kick in.

Did I tell you that I have 2 basements and a big walk in storage closet? UGH!!!!!

This is going to be like a support group! I love it!!!!!
Thanks for all your support and love!
Right back at you!
Yvonne

Maggie, you are SO funny! Yes, my craft room is just like that. We needed all my tables for the yard sale a couple weeks ago, and so everything just went onto a pile on the floor. Now it has gotten worse, as I do indeed stand at the door and just pitch inside. I'm really irritated by it.

Also -- I now know what you mean by the word "Fantabulous". I promise I didn't know that you had posted the same word in your title. It's not really a word. You know what they say about great minds!!!

Speaking of great minds, give that hubby of yours a big hug for me. His advice was amazing and I feel very confident now that I've chosen not only the correct roof, but the correct roofer! I truly do owe this peace of mind to your husband. Please be extra good to him for me.

Also, I do think we should post pictures of our basement. I think it's only fair. By the way -- is there a basement cleaning "button"? Show me the button!!!

haha. I'm so glad to talk to you again. It feels like it's been a while!

Happy birthday to Yvonne.

Yes, I know it was the 'hose' but oy! it just gave me the creeps thinking it might be a squiggly slithering thingy ... yucky creatures. I am really freak-o about even seeing one. How's the hose doing? Chuckle!

Have a lovely summer's eve ~

Birthday wishes for you Yvonne., and many more.
My basement is more of a cellar in this old house, a very creepy, crawly, scary place.
I'm NOT going there unless I need something from the freezer or the pantry shelves of fresh garden canned goods. Nuff said!
